FALL OF EARTH r DESPERATE PLIGHT AIR PUMPED INTO MINE. (Received 9.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Twelve men were entombed in the Jnriiuunna Mine in Glppsland as a result of a fall of earth yesterday afternoon.

They were released at midnight after desperate work by rescue parties.

Air was pumped into the mine and the men stated that had it not been for this they would have been ■suffocated. The imprisoned men were heard trying to dig their way 'to safety with picks and shovels. "When liberated some were in an extcemely weak condition.
