BAZAAR AT CARDIFF

IN AID OF TENNIS CLUB.

Despite the miserable weather yesterday, the bazaar held at Cardiff in aid of the funds of the local tennis club was well patronised. Good business was done throughout the. afternoon and continued in fche evening, when a tag-of-wa,r contest enlivened by. musical items provided an additional attraction. In declaring the bazaar oprti, the Mayor of Stratford (Mr J. W, McMillan) congratulated the club on its initiative and onf its Vfijfc, fine courts. The bazaar was hoped, he said, to be the final effort by people of the district to extinguish the debt involved in the construction of tne courts. This was originally £251, but money was already in hand, and with the co-operation of the school coniimittee and by local effort, this amount was reduced t 0 reasonable proportions.

Mr McMillan paid a warm tribute to the keenness 0 f settlers, in attending in such numbers to assist in the success of the bazaar. He congratulated the district upon the splendid assortment of produce grouped upon one of the major stalls. Stallholders were: Bran tub,. Misses 0, Raynqr, B. Mandex and G-. Horn; sweet stall,, Misses B. and; M. Ho skin j fancy Mrs Myers, Mrs Horn and Miss 11, Were; plain goods stall- Mesdames D. Cameron and MoKee; produce stall, Mrs J. Richards, Messrs L, Wickham and M. Steiner; afternoon toa A Mrs Brunton, Misses A. Wilcocksj anil E. Belcher. The donation of a tennis racquet was made t 0 the committee of the club* by Mr McMillan..
