FROM -TOST" SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. KOHURATAHI. A general meeting of the Kohuyatahi Tennis Club, held on Tuesday evening, was attended by over 20 members, including several ladies. Mr J. D. Law, president, was in the chair. Mr Law explained that the purpose of the meeting was to determine ways and means of constructing the tennis courts. The financial position of the club to rate was, «•©- ceipts &T 0 15s sd, expenditure £ll Os sd, leaving a credit balance of £59 15s. To this can be added £3si 19 s for subscriptions to be collected, making a total of £95 14s, avaiiaple. This amount would not be sufficient Ito quite cover the cost of the two courts. The present membership was, ladies 14, gents 15. It,is desirable that the number of members be increased, or that some other pro- \ vision be made to finance the conI struction of the courts.

After considerable discussion, it was resolved to proceed, with the construction of two courts, the work to be done voluntarily, the services of a J competent foreman be procured to supervise the construction. • Several members stressed the . importance of providing a suitable bavilion, pointing out that "apart from the great benefit it would be to members of the Club, without a pavilion, it would be a matter of some difficulty to successfully entertain visitors and members of visiting clubs The matter was fully u discussed, and it was resolved to provide a suitable pavilion. Numbers of -piiose present agreed to pay subscriptions in i advance covering varying periods, and in this way, a sum of £53 was provided for. The first call on tha money will be for the completion of the courts if other funds do not profvide fully for them. The remainder, or such portion as may be» required will be used for the construction o" jiiitt pavilion. " ■ ' It is the desire of the Club to commence play free of debt, and with tin? object in view they would welcome the support of all those ■■interested in the successful establishment of the Club. It is the intention of the committee to hold a -euchre party and dance once a month in aid of club funds.
