DANCE AT "WHANGA. The dance hold at Whangamomona on the second night of the Dog Trials was well attended, and to the strains of music fr'ora Boulton’s Orchestra dancing was continued well info the morning. During the evening the following trophies were presented by Mr K. Summerhays, who thanked all (Cor attending: Local event, challenge rose bowl, W. Murphy; challenge cup for class three, J. Boyle; challenge cup for most points in classes 2 and 3, Mu Mclntyre; Dunlop cup (won outright) for class 2, S. Harre.
A petition was received at this morning’s meeting of the Stratford County Council from Maknri, Valley settlers asking for the formation of ’a drainage area, to enable the ►dreams to he cleaned out 1 , the County Council to appoint assessors to allocate the charges to bo borne by -each property. At the meeting of Settlors with the Riding members it was suggested that the allocation of charges be base#- on the length of crock affected on each property, as well as area. The Council decided to take action as requested by the petitioners, but to ask that they form a Drainage Board.
