Larwood's fastj howling upset the tail of the team. There was a sensational opening of Englanid’s innings, Halcombes the local fast bowler, who incapacitated Geary in the last West Australian match, caught Tate on the fleshy part of the teg with the third ball. Tate was assisted from the ground,. Tyldesley, who escaped Salccmbe, scored a single and placed the next ball for an easy catch to Hortecks. Mead and Hammond gave a vigorous display of free hitting.
