MARSHAL LOCH. (Received 9.6 a.m.) PARIS, March 20. Obituary: Marshal Fooh.—Australian Press Assn., United Service. The late Field-Marshal Ferdinand «loch, O.M, G.C.8., was born at Tarbes in 1851. He get the rank of Lieutenant in 1875, captain 1878, Lieut.-Colonel 1898 and Colonel in 1903 He was promoted to the rank of General in 1911 and was given command of the 13th Division of Infantry. He served in the Great W ar , a nd received the Grand Croix cf the Legion of Honour. He was promoted to Marshal of France in 1918, in which year he was made Generalissimo of Hie Allied forces itfn France. Ho was. made a British' Field-Marshal in 1919. His publications include “The of W ar” and “The Conduct of War.”
