SPORT IN THE WATER

ST WATFORD CARNIVAL. A SPLENDID SUCCESS. There was a very large attendance at the school hath last night for

the swimming carnival conducted by the High School Old Pupils’ Association Swimming Club. Extra seating on the west side and part of the north side was fully occupied as also was 'the permanent seating. The lighting left nothing to be desired.

It is anticipated that the meeting will result in a clear profit 1 of roughly £2O. Everything went off without a hitch reflecting 'the highest credit on the president (Mr F. Bowler), the secretary (Mr J. Callaghan), the committee and the officials. Finishes were close, and patrons had a good night’s sport, the gathering concluding about 10.45 p.m. In games of water polo during the evening Fitzroy beat Hawera by three goals to one and Inglewood beat Stratford by one goal to nil.
