MEETING OF COMMITTEE. THE YEAR’S “GATES.” A meeting of the management committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union was held in the Windsor Tea Rooms last night, when there were present; Messrs J. McLeod (chairman). A. F. Noils'On, J. J. Goodwin, W. U. Feriron, R. Masters, R. R. Tyrer, AV, A. Guy, H. Spurdle, J. Garcia, E. H. Young, and S. Nielsen (secretary). Messrs J. Paterson, AV. H. Moyes and L. J. Furrie forwarded apologies for absence* REP. MATCHES. Notification was received from the New Zealand Rugby Union that its annual meeting would he held at Wellington on May 2nd. A circular from the New Zea-« land Union dealt with the fixing of representative games. Last year, it was said certain Unions had been

classed as “A” and the rest were classed as “B.” It was agreed that the “A” Unions should play two of the “B” Unions close to their district, and that certain Unions should go North and South. It was asked that the following information he supplied: The annual or home and home matches which the Union had regularly, and approximate dates thereof; what tours would the Union undertake for the seasons 1929 to 1932, and what months were most suitable for representative matches. If this information could he supplied the subcommittee could map out a programme, which could he circulated among Unions, so that delegates could complete a definite programme when fixtures were being confirmed. The chairman said it should be possible to draw up the Taranaki

programme for two years. It was decided that the mattei be referred to a sub-committee consisting of Messrs Masters and Tyrer, the chairman and the secretary.

THE “GATES.” A statement was presented showing an average gross gates pel match in each season from v 1924 to 1928. In the two following years there was a drop t 0 £l4 _9s and £9 3s, the figure for 1927 being £ll 4s and for 1928 £ll 5s sd. Association, on condition that the debentures are fully subscribed and conditionally on the A. and P. Association leasing the ground to the T.R.U. for a period of ton years for football purposes, between April Ist and October; Ist in each year for a lixed rental of £IOO per annum.
