GLASSON BEATS LEG K lE. (Special to Post). WANGANUI, Last Night. Johlmy Leokie (9.1), the New Zealand featherweight champion, was beaten in a contest of fifteen"T!ireeminute rounds this by Charlie Glasson (9st), of Australia.

1/eckie stripped very fit, and was a warm favourite. The "light opened briskly and Leokie showed out early wth straight lefts and two-handed 'batteries which worthed Glasson. Tile fourth round saw a stinging oxchange. 'Glasson landed a left swing to the solar plexus, following ‘ with a right jab to the head, but Leckie appeared not to he worried. In the fifth round a left swing scut Glasson to the ropes, but he held his own in this and the following round. The seventh round was merry, Leckie going for a knock-out, but Glasson evaded smartly. Glasson had rather the better of the seventh round, and scored in the eighth and ninth. The next two rounds were more even. Glasson forced matters in the twelfth round and scored in the thirteenth. In the fourteenth Leckie was looking for an opening, but Glasson had tho hotter of things at long range. The final round was full of incident, a toe-to-too onslaught raising great enthusiasm, Glasson finishing the better on points. The issue was in doubt right up to the last round, when Leokie began to show signs' of the wear and tear. In the absence of Morgan (Wellington), Carlston (Wanganui) gave an exhibition bout with Cleverly (Wellington), tho Olympic champion. Tho performance provided a bright exhibition of the art.
