Prior to leaving for the north and Australia yesterday morning Johnny Leekie, the New Zealand, featherweight champion, was presented with a. gold watch by the Otago Boxing Association, and bis trainer, Archie Leekie, with a well-filled wallet. Tommy Griffiths, who leaves Wellington on March I lor Sydney, was also the recipient of a gold watch. Both Leekie and Griffiths have given the local association first call on themi for three fights when they return from Australia.
It is possible their opponents will be some, 0 f the champions at present in Australia. It is hoped to g ( T La Barba and others over to New Zealand.
