FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS NARROW ESCAPE
CENSURE MOTION NEARLY CARRIED majority of only two. SPEAKER’S CASTING VOTE. (Received 12.20 p.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. The Federal Government narrowly escaped defeat bn a motion 'ey Mr Coleman (Labour) for printing certain determinations by the Public Service Arbitrator, to which the leader of the Senate had given notice of intention to move disapproval. The effect of Mr Coleman’s motion amounted to a censure on the Government and it was defeated only by 37 to 35 on tbe Speaker’s casting vote. Flour Ministerialists were absent and Messrs Hughes and Mann (Nationalists) and Stewart and McWilliams (Independents) voted against the Government. —Australian P.A.
