BIG SUBSIDY ASKED FOR
HIGHWAY FROM HAMILTON TO AGAKUAWILIA. BOARD CHAIRMAN HOLDS OUT NO HOPE. Press Association —Copyright HAMILTON, Tills Day. The permanent 1 surfacing of the Hamilton-Ngaruawhia section of the main north-south highway is long delayed.
The Waipa Coupty Council holds that the Highways Board should give more than, a three to one subsidy, as 90 per cent, of the traffic is from outside districts. The chairman of the Highways Board, answering a County deputation, said there was no use arguing. No larger subsidy would be granted.
In the meantime this section is surfaced with loose shingle and motorists frequently complain of the danger. ' T\"JS3I
