HEALTH INSPECTIO N

INFECTIOUS DISEASE. PROCESS OF NOTIFICATION. At Monday night’s meeting of the Borough Council, Cr Moore spoke of a case in which he alleged that a house in which a person suffering from an infectious disease had lived had been occupied by another family without any steps being taken to check infection, and that the furniture in the house had been sold by public auction, also without precautionary measures being taken. A “Post” representative interviewed the local Health Inspector, Mr A. E. Sayers, who said at once that it was impossible for him to give any information as to what steps had been taken in any particular case. However, he was able to indicate the procedure in cases of infectious diseases. On a case being di* - covered by a medical man the latter notified Mr Sayers. The notification was passed on to the Medical Officer of Health, who issued instructions to Mr Sayers as to the steps he was to take. Beyond the statement that in all cases the instructions of the Medical Officer of Health were fully carried out. Mr Sayers could say nothing further.
