CROQUET
SOUTH TARANAKI TOURNEY. The booth Taranaki Croquet Association’s A grade tournament was concluded at Hawera on Monday, and tlio prizes won were presented as follows by Mrs Bayley/wife of the president, Mr G. J, Bayley: South Taranaki championship (Stoddart Cup). —Mrs L. J. Bull, runner-up, Mrs F. A. Evans. Championship' singles (Bennett and Sutton Cup and replica).—-Mr E. D. Horner, Patea. There was no run-ner-up, Mi; Horner having won the final in both lives for the second year in succession.
Open championship singles (Bayley Cup).—Mr A. J. Gibbs, Patea; run-ner-up, Mr Clague, Manaia. Open championship doubles. Mr ami Mrs Horner; runners-up, Mrs B. 0. Bennett and Mrs Campbell. Handicap singles (Gibbs Cup).— Mrs F. A. Evans; runner-up, Mr A. J. Gibbs.
Handicap doubles—Mrs Evans and Mrs Wills; runners-up, Mr Clague and Mrs Snowden.
The following was 'the result of the final event of the tourney:— Open championship singles—Final: Mr Gibbs beat Mr Clague. The finalists made an agreement to decide the championsb’ip on the aggregate points of two games. Clague won the first game, 26 —11, and Gibbs won the second game 26 7, thus winning by u margin of lour points.
