Press Association—Oopyngnt WELLINGTON, This Dav In a report on the Produce Markets fire, about the handling of which there has been some controversy, the City Engineer recommended the Council to allow him to investigate thie hydrants with ai view to improving any found unsatisfactory.. The Mayor and cither councillors expressed (I)ssatisfaotion and wanted a demonstration. The speakers considered they had ia right to be assured on the matter. One councillor said an experiment was not enough. There had been something wrong in connection with the fire. The efficiency of
the appliances had been lauclcdi, yet they failed and the whole thing was completely out of the control of the brigade.
Eventually the council deckled to call for a demonstration and also to make searching enquiry into all the circumstances of the fire.
