Messages from Kabul regarding the dramatic abdication of Amanullah, state that it took place on.Mondjg iwhen the rebels under Bacchasa?!!®; surrounded ithe village of Delkopa, three miles west of Kabul, which wa s the local headquarters of the King's troops, capturing a large garrison and .guns. The troops then bombarded and advanced on the capital. Amanullah immediately abdicated and an armistice was arranged but the latest information states fighting is proceeding in the vicin-' ity of Kabul. There is a possibility of the rebel leader who holds the key position being an aspirant to the tlhrone. Thei trouble between the Duranis and Shilzaig remains, by reason of the fact that Inayatullah belongs to the former tribe. This may resuit in friction, Although fighting has been severe in the visinity of the British legation no damage is reported and all members of the Legation are safe, . The new King Inayatullah, ;who is forty years of age, was a prominent assistant to the late King Habibullah, but after Amanullah's accession wa s imprisoned ior three years* Inayatullah's wife' is a sister of Queten Souriya.—Australian Press Assn.
