ITALIAN SITUATION CAUSES ANXIETY
FAILURE OJ BANKS. DECREASE IN PRODUCTION. LONDON, December 19. The Daily Chronicle Paris correspondent states that despite &ignor Mussolini's optimistic speeche s it has been learned that the economic situation in Italy is causing anxiety. Three large, well-known provincial banks have become bankrupt within a fortnight. The year's working on the railways is unfavourable, while despite all the propaganda in the campaign for increased production the maize harvest has shown a reduction of 25 per cent, rice 9 per cent., and potatoes 26 per cent.
