A very successful dance was held in the Cardiff Hall last night, and in spite of the warm weather, there was a large number in attendance'. Tliq music for the dance was supplied by Boulton's Orchestra, while an extra, was played on the piano by Miss Wilmhurst. There were several novelty dances on the programme and exhibition solo dances, by Miss Kitty Harper, helped to make the affair a brilliant success.
LIFESAVING GUAiRD. x\. meeting of the newly-1 onned Life Saving Guard, which is being organised by the Salvation- Army, was belli last night,. Mrs Major Grey, oi Palmerston North, presiding. The evening was opened with a congregational hymn, followed by a parade; of the guards company. Several other items were also given, and these were; Company songs by the Guards, solos by Guard Pollard and Chaplain M. Frazer, and a demonstration of signalling by Corporal May Witt. The following presentations were made to the troop:—Union Jack, Mill H. White; ti'oop flag, Instructress Gourley; basket ball, Mr Be.rt Witt. Arrangements wore dismissed for a camp to be held at Feild.ing, commencing on Thursday, December 27th, when games, competitions, sports, an evening concert and troop parades will he indulged! in.
