The roonns were formerly a par* of the quarters of the Paratin© Guard. They were fortunately momentarily unoccupied. Engineers found, the collapse was due to the failure of the vaulted oeilings "op sbn cellarsj, which had been carelessly built. They had already suffered much decay an the last three centuries. ■M large masonry pillar was recently built} in the 'dentre of the , vault, but it spyed insufficient to prevent the accident.
