LOCATION OF COMMITTEES. BUSINESS AT ASSEMBLY. ; AUCKLAND, Last Night. ' At the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church it was decided that the locations of assembly committees be as follows: Foreign missions, Auckland; home missions, Auckland; Maori mission, Waikato. public' questions, Dunedin; life and work, Southland; theological hall, Dunedin; youth of the church, Christchurch; sustentatton fund, Dunedin; .beneficiary fund, Wellington, supply and appointments, Auckland; statistics, Wairarapa. The Rev. W. Mawson was appointed foreign mission secretary until th e next assembly, and the salary was increased to £SOO, with £IOO house allowance. The. report of the beneficiary fund "committee showed the credit balance 'on August 18, 1927, was £153,330. The income for the year had been £2O 391, which included bequests amounting to £170,0 and £SOO received .from the fire insurance fund. The expenditure had been £11,840, and £793 had been paid to members withdrawing from the fund, leaving £7757 lio- b e added to the capital, Which now stands at £161,088. There were 283 Contributors to the fund. Annuities to ministers' widows and .children amounted to £II,OOO, which was 7 per cent, of the capital. The resignation of the Rev. W. J. iComrie, church treasurer, was accepted as from. January 1 next, and h & was granted a year's salary- in lieu of'leave of absence. Mr V. C 'Chapman, of Wellington, was appoint!ed in his stead.
