The Kokotau bridge is closed to all traffic the recently driven piles having given way find the approaches being washed out. Many settlers are surrounded by water and are unable to) reach town, but are in no danger. Communication with Gladstone, Kokotau, Ppnatalu and 1 'AhJarube ia completely cut off. Reports from the Lower Valley states the waters overtopped the stopbanks and the wheel countryside ts inundated ffptho greatest depth for 20 years. The Tuhitar--atii Dairy factory is flooded and unable toi work. 1 There is no serious damage except the Kokotau Bridge yet reported. Rain is still falling but not heavily. Tlic water dropped half an inch since eight tin’s morning.
