PRESENTATIONS TO TEACHER

AIR HANCOCK’S DEPARTURE

A presentation was made at tire Stratford Primary School yesterday to Mr R. L. Hancock, who has been a teacher at the school for the past four years and who is leaving Stratford to take up the position of sole teacher of the Makaka School. Tho Headmaster, Mr L. J. Furrie on behalf of the staff, presented Mr Hancock with la handsome weather glaisis. The speaker made eulogistic) reference to Mr Hancock’s services both in. and out of school, with special reference to jus enthusiastic efforts on behalf of the school fife band, and wished him every success in his new appointment.

Mr iW- Hoskin, chairman of the committee endorsed the previous speaker’s remarks tandl stressed the fact that though lie appreciated the fact that toichers must move on, his consolation was that Stratford s loss would ho some other n I ace's gam. Mr Fairbrother, an ex-member ct the school staff also spoke (and wish* e d Mr Hancock success. Mr Hancock, in bis reply, while thanking the staff, referred to the four pleasant years he had spent in Stratford, and. to the hearty spirit! oh goodwill and 00-aperatioix 'which existed between too Headmaster and the staff.

Mr Hancock also received two gramophone record albums from the fife hand, a cricket bat, a work on New Zealand! plants, and a handsome ash! tray from the children ct Standard XV* ,
