MR WILKINSON'S CAMPAIGN

ADDRESS AT JLN AHA* OPPOSED TO WHOLESALE BORROWING. Mr C. A. Wilkinson addressed about 50 electors at Inaha last evening, Mr J. W. Snowden presiding. At the conclusion, on the motion ol 1 Mr W. Duggan, a hearty vote of thanks was extended to the candidate. In tne course of his remarks Mr Wilkinson stated, “To-day there is no party in the field to whose pol" icy I can altogether subscribe. I cannot wholly subscribe to the policy of the United Party or to any policy of wholesale borrowing! as announced by Sir Joseph Ward.” Mr N. Gane; Is Mr Wilkinson in favour of daylight saving?—No. I have never approved of it. I have a circular at home in which they want pledges from us for the other half hour next year.

Mr J, Bennett asked what Mr Wilkinson thought of the Massey College scheme. Mr Wilkinson thought it was going to be a big expense and altogether beyond our capacity to pay. It would cost about a quarter of a million and a large amount for upkeep.
