EMPIRE MIGRATION
LORD LOVAT’S TOUR. COMPLETE UNDEKSTANDING. BRITAIN AND DOMINIONS. OVERSEAS OPPORTUNITIES. (Received 11.5 a.m.) A. LONDON, October 10. At the annual conference of British Passenger Agents, Charles Wright’ a senior member and A. Wright', another member, who is also the secretary, contributed papers, prophesying an important result from Lord Lovat’s tour which was calculated to promote a complete understanding with the Dominions.
1 Lord Loval* was remarkably well informed on migration, and was animated by sympathy and goodwil Ifor the Dominions whose co-operation was desired for mutual interests. Lord Lovat had already made important recommendations affecting Canada, and it was anticipated he would make equally important ones affecting Australia and New Zealand. GREAT OPPORTUNITIES. Mr A. Wright expressed the opinion that there were opportunities for tens of thousands in the Dominions, but to ensure th e development of resources and industries and als a cont'inunity of employment if wi necessary to export ■capitalists and industrialists contemporaneously with 1 the workers.
It was obviously to the interests of the Dominions to offer opportunities to all three, and it would be Britain’s advantage to divert to migration two millions spent weekly on unemployment pay and charitable relief.—Australian Press Assn.
