CAPT DEWAR TO COMMAND BATTLE CRUNSER

SEQUEL TO ROYAL OAK AFFAIR. UNPRECEDENTED APPOINTMENT. GENEROUS ACT OF GRACE. (Received 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, September 25. There has been an inleresling sequel to (he Royal Oak affair, (lie Admiralty having made the announcement (hat Captain Dewar has been appointed to command (Isa haUle cruiser. Tiger. The Evening News says the appointment is a generous act of grace on the part of the Admiralty, and is probably unprecedented. It does not compare in prestige with the command of the Royal Oak ■which is a batt/leship fully commissioned. The Tiger although a battle cruiser is now a sea-geing gunnery firing ship, but the Admiralty’s act restored Dewar to a sea-going appointment, giving him sufficient time to qualify for promotion to Rear Admiral before his retirement—Australian Press Assn.
