The All Blacks gave a poor exhibition oi' Rugby when they beat the Sonth-Westerns by 12 points to 6. The day was beautifully fine, but the ground was hard and covered with parched grass. The attendance was three thousand. The home team opened the attack, but the All Black defence was sound. Soon the visitors' forwards asserted themselves, hammering away at the Westerns' line, until from a penalty awarded ito New Zealand, Lindsay kicked a goal. The New Zealand backs continued the pressure, hut the Westerners rrioved swiftly, smashing the attacks. A PRETTY MOVEMENT. Through a clever opening by McGregor, the New Zealanders were away in a pretty rnovenient which ehi\d on the goal line with an obstruction by a local man. From the resultant penalty Nicholls kicked a fine <goal. After half time the All Blacks played eight, backs, Scrimshaw going out to the wing and Lucas playing as extra centre. NICHOLLS IN FORM. Nicholls started off the spell by making a fine opening, from which Stewart scored. Strang's kick missed.
Westerns then attacked, Smuts kicking a good goal from a penalty. They continued the offensive, the All Blacks forcing twice.
Lucas relieved, however, and McGregor, with a good effort, looked like scoring, only to receive theball later from Nicholls and .»-••. ito dive over for a try.
HOME TEAM. SCORES, AGAIN. Within a minute of the final whistle Badenhorst, for Westerns, scored in the corner.
Lindsay hurt his shoulder in the first spell, this plainly affecting his play.—Special to Press Assn.
