There is a business romance attached to the career of Sir Arthur Duckham, one of -the “Big hour who will shortly visit Australia at the request of the Commonwealth Government to report on conditions. To-day he controls an engineering business with a turnover of £1,000,000 a year. He started bnsine s with £250, borrowed from Sir Alfred Carrow. Recalling that Sir Arthur Duckham as a member of the Sankey Commission presented a most valuable report, which greatly influenced the development of the coal industry, the “Evening News” expressed the opinion that he will ho a. scientific investi-o-utor, seeking to discover the Australian point of view, and that his report may he a fascinating document to Australia.
