XX X X The Winter Hurdles, )£ miles, takes place to-morrow at Trentham. Nukumiai is top weight with 11.13, and is sure to be well backed. Red Fuchsia (11-4) is a good! one. Perle de Leon (10.6) should run well, and will be coupled with Gaze (9.13), and may be the favourite. Ivawini and Beau Cavalier (10.2) have a. show, especially the latter. Aberfeld'y (10.1) will fiave some friends. 3£ia Bella (9.5) is a possibility. Kalkahu (9-6) may find the company a little too good. Nucleus (9.3) will carry plenty .of support: Patuki and Kauri Park may be the best of the lightweights. When the machine closes the public's fancies may be the couple pair (Perle de Leon and Gaze), Nukumai, and Red Fuchsia. XX X X The three-year-old gelding Wayward, who did good service for. Mr J. M. Samson during the summer, resumed work recently after a spell. He is in R. C Keeper's team a.t Orari. He claims Winter Cup engagement next month. XX X X First Sight is back on the tracks at Riccarton, XX X X The Absurd gelding Standard has been schooled over hurdles at Trentham, and he has shown considerable proficiency as a juniper. Ho is to be nominated for minor hurdle events at the Christ-church Hunt and Grand National meetings. Standard has been schooled by C. Scott, who was associated with K. Gallo in his Great Northern Triumphsxxx Cohesion and Princess Nata are two who will race amongst the, hurdlers at the Gisborne meeting. Both horses are schooling well. XX X X Tc Monanui is (again doing pace work on the tracks at New Plymouth.
