KING'S THEATRE. TUG-OF-WAll AND* PIGIURES. The great tug-of-war will take, place tooiiglit at the King's and already large entries from. all over Taranaki have- been received'. There •will also be a very fine supporting programme of pictures. BAND CONCERT. On Sunday night next the Stratford Citizens' TBand will give another of their popular Sunday evening concerts at the King's Theatre. Items of an outstanding nature will be given by the New Plymouth Male Choir and by Mr Baird, of New Plymouth. Mr Baird is one of New Plymouth's leading tenor soloists, and hi si splendid singing at the last Scottish' concert will be vividly recollected. In addition, several other excellent items will be on the programme. CELTIC P-C BALL.

The Celtic Football Club's annual ball, held.at the Town Hall last night was very well attended, 'and an enjoyable time was spent. The elaborate scheme of decoration, designed by Mr.E.Culpan, was-very striking. A splendid' effect was.produced by green, and white streamers, fern s suspended round the walls and coloured. flashing lights. An outstanding feature was a, hug© green <xnd white football/ illuminated from within, suspended from the centre of I tne" ceiling. On the stage there was a representation of a- football; bearing the club's monogram, around, which were grouped: caricatures of the club's players. McNeil's orchestra; supplied; the music, and the supper arrangements were attended to by h ladies' committee under the direction of Mrs W. Tunbridge. The lighting effects were the work of Messrs J- Fraser and A. T)avey. The joint secretaries, Messrs L. Coley and J. Stevens, are to be com* plimented upon the success of the function. TheM's.C. were Messrs-A. Davey and E. Culpan, Many r,.vel dances were introduced; pron-.ent among which were, the "snowball dances. On taking- the floor- each couple was provided with fluffy white Snowballs which, when thrown with effective Him, ewfcfed softly against the face or neck of another dancer.
