THE WINTER SHOW
-LARGE INCREASE OF ENTRIES; Entrie s for this year's Stratford Winter Show total 2421, an increase of 610 over last year's record. Space for exhibits has been extensively taken up, and early application for space i s desirableAn extra 8000 feet of space has been provided by the erection of new buildings, and this is divided equally between side-shows and .the poultry section. Portion of Miranda Street at the back of the buildings .will be fenced off during the Show, and this space will accommodate the cbhir-o-(plane, merry-go-round, Ferris wheel and other attractions which are too large to be housed in the buildingsPractically all last year's exhibitors are represented', while a number of outside exhibitors, who have never previously entered at a Tai|anaki Show, have secured space. , A very special effort lias been made in reference to the decorations. The exterior of lETie bnilding will be picked out with electric lights, and the interior will he decorated with flags greenery, electric lights etc. The Show will be officially opened by'the Hon. 0. J- Hawken, Minister of Agriculture, at S p.m. on Wednesday. On Thursday the representative football match, Taranaki v. Waikato, will be played, with a curtain-raiser-between the Stratford Technical High School and the Hawera High School teams. FridhSv will Ve "children's day," when school children from all parts may visit the show, taking advantage of the special excursion fares. On Saturday there will be a, Rugby match between! teams from the Tainui and Whangamomona sub-unions, as well -as a Boy Scouts' demonstration, in which teams from all parts of Taranaki, and even from as far as Wanganui, will compete.
