Miss 'Carman left-this morning on a holiday visit to Wellington.

Miss Manoy returned to Stratford on Tuesday evening after a six weeks’ holiday in Sydney.

Mr. L. du Chateau, who was in town yesterday arranging for the visit to Stratford of Mr. Alfred O’Shea, tenor, left by' this morning’s train for south.

The death occurred early this .moriving of ai very old and respected resident of the district in Mr Joseph Robson, who commenced farming on his property on Pembroke Road gonie thirty years ago. He had been in illhealth for some time previous to his death. He retired from active farming isome years ago, hut 'at the time of his death he was a director of the Pembroke Dairy Co. Mr W. Robson, of Wellington, is a brother of deceased, and Mrs Birch, of Whaugarei, a sister, and Mesdames D. M. Clarke and R. Richardson, of Stratford, are sisters-in-law. A very wide circle of friends in. the district will extend sympathy to surviving relatives. The interment will take place to-morrow at the old cemetery. >
