The mail train this morning had several extra carriages in view of the football match at Hawera, all the carnages being well filled.

Definite advice has now been received that a Forestry and Railway Departments will be represented by an exhibit at the Stratford Winter Show.

A locUl dairy factory has sold a large quantity of its cheese output at 9Jd. This is greatly in. excess of previous prices obtained and augurs well for next season’s prospects.

The aim of the Stratford Winter Show Society to give service, and satisfaction to all is shown to hspe borne fruit by the large number of entries for the forthcoming Show. The entries, which closed last night, show an increase in the aggregate of over 500, there being a satisfac-' tory increase in every section.

It is possible that at the meeting, of the Domain Board to be held on July 16th a decision may be come'to , in reference to the grandstand pro-, posed to be erected in Victoria pirk. A reminder is given that applications for benzine refunds under the petrol tax for the quarter ending June 30 must he personally lodged with the local- Postmaster not later than July 7. Any applications received after this date will only go back for a period of 90 days iso that late applicants will not be able to claim, for the full amount of benzine used during the quarter. At a meeting of) the Council of ; th© Taranaki Acclimatisation Society on Monday evening Mr H. Grayling submitted an estimate for forming and metalling a road at the Durham Road hatchery site, the building ? f., a bridge, weir and race. The ques- j tion of obtaining Government sistance for the combined hatchery and game farm was raised, and, inquiries are to be made in this direction. It was decided that Messrs James’, Fhokes, Simons and Bell should inspect a proposed site on the Ngatoro River, off the Junction Road.
