FAT SHEEP SELL 'FREELY

At the stock sule there was-a medI ium entry of about 3009 sheep.' These consisted mainly of breeding ewes, fat sheep and lambs. All classes of fat sheep met with a ready demand and sold well up to late ratos. The breeding ewes were perhaps hardly up to the quality of the late offerings, but they sold well up to late rates, taking condition into Account. A well-bred line of 51 two-tooth to four-year-old ewes running with Southdown ram s sold at 38s Gd. Other price s were: Fat lambs, 26s to SSs 6d; fat ewes, 27s 7d to 31s M; fat wethers, 29s to 40s '3d, fr.t Woolly whitefaced lambs, 39s Id to 41s; four and five-year ewes with Southdown rams, 27s 6d to 33s -8d: empty ewes, 1:8s Id! to 19s; black-faced lambs, 15s 6d to 17s 7d; five-year ewes with Southdown rams, 24s '9d to 28s 2d!; fourtooth to five-year ewes running with Romneyi'.ims, 335; four-tooth to fouryear ewes with Southdown rams, 22* 9cl to 35s Gel j two to sis-tooth &vres with Southdown rams, 38s Gel; ewe hoggets, 30 s *o 38s 4d'« two-tooth wethers, 29s 10d: stud Southdown ewes, 4.gns; four and five-year Southdown ewes- 3sgns; four-year, sgns. There was a medium entry of cattle. Stove cattle and. fat cows were considerably easier. The -dairy stock offered was not of high quality, being mostly second grade, and sold at a par with late- rates. Heifers and spring calvers sold at from £-5 15s to £6-10s; cows, springing, £5-10s to £l2 15s; cows in milk, £7 to £3; store cows, £* 5s to £4 ss; Jersey weaners, £2 IG*> to £5 ss; fat cows, £5 1,2 s6d to £S; fat steers. £8 15s; Polled yearling steers, £6 us : stores, Hereford bullocks. £7 15s to £3 15s; store Polled Angus bullock?, £7 18s to £S 19s.
