The -likelihood of .two British seaplanes participating in the woxk of rescuing the crew of th e wrecked Italia was indicated in Parliament. Sir Philip Sassoon the Under Secretary for Air stated that the Air Minister had notified the Italian authorities some time ago that if there should be anything the Air Foi'ce could usefully do to assist in rescue operations they should call on them without hesitation. On Saturday Sir Samuel tHoare received a telegraphic request from Norwegian sources asking whether the Ail" Force could lend two small seaplanes. He replied that if any of their available types could be utilised by the Norwegian authorities the Air Force would he happy to furnish these aircraft forthwith.
