The Northern Steamship Company's auxiliary sahooner Hauturu crossed the Manukau Bar on Thursday evening bound for Hokianga, but has not since been reported. This is tUusing some anxiety for her safety, as she must have encountered a fierce gale soon after getting io sea. The Hauturu should, tinder ordinary circumstances, have arrived! at Hokianga on 'Friday. She may have run before the gjile and made for EheHfer, or have experienced difficulty in getting back .to the coast, or being a flat bottomed craft she may have been earned a considerable disance off the land-
Inquiries from Cape Maria Van Diemen, AWpara, 'and Hokianga Heads* that she 'had not been seen at any of these places. ,
