chairman, at a large meeting of parishioners.

Mr. English expressed the view that, most churchmen believed the bishop bad not received fair play at ;the hands of detractors, and the meeting was called to ascertain definitely, whether the claim made by the opponents of the bishop that they represent 95 per cent, of the church people could be substantiated. ,A full discussion- took place regarding, the action of those responsible for: the. publication in tho press ot confidential reports, and misleading statements. ,

The following resolutions welrel passed unanimously: — "That this meeting of churchmen of the Hamilton district emph|.iticr hlly protests against the policy of opposition to his Lordship that has been, and is being, adopted by certain members of the chapter, whom we regard as mainly responsible for fomenting the present so-called dissension, recognising as we do that such-policy is entirely detrimental to the interests of the church, and in no way. represents the feeling of the whole district. At the same time, those present express sincere sympathy -with his Lordship in the difficult position the lay members _ of tho chapter are seeking to place him, and also their loyalty to him as the spiritual leader." "That this meeting entirely dissociates itself from the cablegram sent by the majority of the chapter l[iym * en to the Home Secretary regardu ing the Prayer Book revision."
