The News of the World understands the Cable conference is advising the handing over of the Government cable and external wireless systems to the merger. It insists tn» latter must be owned, controlled and operated by Blritish secondly that while tb e Governments of Britain and the , Dominions are relieved of certain financial liabilities they should, retain the power to regulate cable and beam rates, and finally that control should revert to the Government in wartime. —Australian Press Assn.
