The sale was a lengthy one, commencing at 11.30 on the furniture, followed by the sale of a large collection o'f farm implements and sundries. It was 3 o'clock before a start was made on the dairy cows, and the sale was not completed until dark.

Despite the lateness of the sale, buyers remained until the sncl, and bidding was exceptionally keeri throughout. The manner in which the stock was brought into the ring was a credit to Mr Ros e and his many assistants.

Before the auctioneer sold the first cow, Mr H. E. Abraham, manager of the Stratford bnuch of Messrs Newton King, Ltd., made a few remarks. Right from the commencement ol the sale bidding was keen and the two auctioneers (Messrs €. S. Wi' liams and G. Pugh) found a ready response from buyers o n everythiitc offered.

Of the herd itseif 76 cows were offered—the top price being £22. Th*i average price for 66 cows, sound, and in calf, was £ls 17s ,which must constitute a record for this season. Th e other 10 cows ware either empty or three-quarteredi and of course are not included in the herd average. The in-call' heifers were a beautiful lot, and made the following prices:- Three at £l4, 2 at £l3 10s, 2 at £l2, 1 at £ll 10s, 1 .at £9, 1 at £l6, 1 at £ls, 2 at £l3, 1 at £l3, 2 at £lO 10 s. The weaiier heifers were a fine line and the 26 were sold at £5 10s. The farm horses realised £34,. £2O, £l4 and £lB. Weaaer pigs mad e from lis to 17s, sows iii Pig £3 53 to £4 ss. The implements were in good order and the main items sold as under:-Duncan drill £SO, discs £lO 10s, ha y hoist £l6 10s, hay rake £7 10b] mower £8 10s, hay sweep £ls, waggon £26, block dray £9. The smaller sundries also sold at good prices.
