PROPOSED GRANDSTAND.
DEBENTURES TAKEN UP. A comparative short time ago the Domain Board decided to take steps to sell debentures for the purpose of erecting a grandstand in Victoria park- The debentures were prepared in connection with previous improvements to Victoria Park, but were not needed for that work. They represented a of £BOO odd. Before the Jubilee celebrations it had been decided that any profit therefrom should be used as a nucleus of a fund for a grandstand in Victoria Pa*rk, and the cash handed to the Board by the Jubilee Executive amounted to £IOO oddThe Mayor (Mr. J. W. McMillan), who is also chairman of .the Domain Board, announced yesterday that, the whole of the debentures had been taken up, and the sum from them, added to the cash in hand from the Jubilee, is estimated to provide a suitable grlandstandj< Mr- McMillan says the Domain Board will welcome any suggestions in reference to the proposed grandstand, and any citizens who may have ideas on the matter are advised to make their suggestions before the next meeting of the Board on July 16th, as the intention is to lose no time in commencing the work.
