LABOUR MEMBER'S OFFER
TO GO TO G-lOj;.. PURELY AN EXPERIMENT. LONDON May 15. A Labour JJ.P.’s offer to serve a terra of imprisonment amused the Scottish Standing Committee of the House of Common.;. The committee was consuming the Bill oy which, the existing board system of administration in Scotland would be replaced by a departmental organisation, as in England. Mr W. Wright, Labour M.P. for Rutherglen Davision of Lanark, mentioned that an American governor once spent two years ir. gaol to gain experience of prism administration. “I am not an heroic man,” he went on, “hut if the Secretary of Scotland wants somebody 10 qualify by personal experience for prison administration / am quite prepared to go to prison for six months for that purpose.”
