DEATH OF A WOMAN
YOUNG MAN CHARGED.

Trevor Walter Moss, a young mot-or-cyclist, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court to-day; with negligently riding a motor-cycle along Woodham Road, Linwood, on the night of April 18, and thereby causing the death of Margaret O’Connor, Moss, with the girl O’Connor (as- a pillion passenger, rode into an obstruction formed by an unfilled trench with spoil alongside which 'had been dug in the| course of sewage operations. The motor-cycle and the two passengers were thrown 2Q feet. The man Wciti dazed and injured, but the girl was fatally hurt. Evidence for the prosecution was that the motor-cycle had a weak light and was travelling 55 to 40 miles an hour.
For the defence, in cross examination, it was sought to show that the obstruction was not sufficiently lighted and suggested that Moss’ , speed was not excessive. Accused reserved his defence and was committed for trial, bail being allowed in bis own recognisances cf £oo and one security of £SO.
