Andrew; Payne, of Claremore (Oklahoma), a school boy, is the winner of the 34500 mils trans-con-itinntal- footrace from Los Angeles to New York. He ran the distance in ? 573 hours four minutes, thirtyfour seconds, in eighty-five laps, and receives twenty-five thousand dollars as first prize—Australian Press Assn.' i
