A AND P ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING. Mr J. W. Boon, president, was in the chair at the annual meeting of members of the Stratford A. and P. Association, .which-,was held this afternoon in the Parish Hall. Apologies for absence \ver e received from Messrs H. C. Johnson, T. Perry and H. A. Hunt. i , ANNUAL" REPORT. The adoption of. the annual reprirt and balance-sheet was moved •■•by the president. A copy of the 'report has already appeared i n the ■ "Post." Speaking to the motion, Mr Boon said the Association was fortunate in showing a good profit on tne year's work. The gates at last show were a record, : due, no doubt, to extra care taken at the gates and the larger number of cars coming to the grounds. The profits for the year was hot a record. . TS/S was due, ho doubt, to the expense in renewing a "part Of the loan and to the tact that the ground was not let for football matches, from which £3B was received in the previous year. They were fortunate as regards the over draft, which was well beiow the 'limit. The working of the Show wont smoothly. Everything had been provided for except the car traffic. This traffic was increasing yearly, ahel last year the increase was enormous, and the cars could not all be dealt with properly. Notes, ' however, had been taken oh the matter, and better provision would be made for next show. Mr D. 6'Sullivan seconded. Mr E. Marfell thought the amount of depreciation seemed small. < The chairman said the matter had been carefully considered, and what was thought to be adequate provision was made. Mr R. D. Millie asked if the trouble with the cars was not caused by the train standing over the crossing. The chairman said no doubt this contributed. Apparently the railway .people had their orders from headquarters, and it was difficult to get an alteration niade on the spur of the moment. However, a note had bee n made on the matter and improvement could be looked for at next show. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Mi- Boon, was re-elected president. 1 He said his work on the Association had been a pleasure, because every man on the executive was a Worker. ! ?4tm Messrs J. W. 'Crowe, E. H. Linnell and J. C. Robins were re-elected vice-presidents. __Mr : C Moore was also elected a vice-president. The following were elected to the executive committee: Messrs H. Bishop, D. M. Clarke, A. David, H.) A. Kay was elected treasurer, and Mr G. A. Carter, auditor. CATTLE PAVILION. Mr Linnell moved that it be a recommendation to the executive to consider the erection of a further 'cattle pavilion. He said the life of the present pens had expired, and some further provision v is needed to keep pace with the increasing needs of the Show. The chairman said tie believed a building could be erected at a cost of £650, without raising a further mortgage. He was decidedly opposed to raising another mortgage. Mr Shotter said some work was required on the horse accommodation. The chairman said new pig pent 'were provided, for last Show, but they were insufficient for the numbei • of entries. Mr E. Marfell said that Mr L. Marfell w*as unable to bo presem i f at th e meeting, but on reading tin • ''annual report he had said that mor< • sheep pens were required. : Mr Shotter said he would oppos< 5 the motion unless it was agreed U ■ do something for the horses Mr A. H. R- Amess pleaded to)

better accommodation for the school work. This was not a revenueproducing section, but it was a very interesting one and the exhibits should be properly displayed. Mr O'Sullivan said the Stratford Show was the best dairy Show in the Dominion, but much better accommodation for cattle was provided at other Taranaki shows. Mr iR. D. Milne thought a new pavilion would be a great asset, especially in the event of bad weather. The chairman said all sections needed attention, and it was a question which should be attended to first. He thought a start should be made with the cattle—it seemed the most urgent job. The motion whs carried. THANKS.
