Yesterday morning a deputation of about thirty settlers representing the Warea 1 and Omata districts waited on Mr C.'A. Wilkinson at New Plymouth with a request that he become a candidate for the Egmont electorate at the next general election. The spokesman, Mr'Gatenby,, said the deputation was not representative of any party but came in : an independent spirit, They considered, Mr Wilkinson was the right man to represent the- d*s trict and that,a ; change was needed.
