FROM "POST" SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT, HUIROA. Mild weather has prevailed lately and although last week was extremely wet, still it was fairly warm, consequently the grass is growing well even yet. It was predicted that owing to the long drought during the summer, the milking season would be a short one, but the cows are hanging out well, and in all probability the season will be almost normal.

Quite a few of our young men are away at the Territorial camp being held at Wavcrley. Unfortunately a few contracted measles and 'had to return home. A meeting of the Sports Club Committee was held last Saturday night and after the business of the meeting had been duly transacted, Mr W. II- Wallace, the secretary of the committee, entertained the members to ; smoke concert. A most enjoy;; Me evening was spent with stoi'j« .-•, games, etc, Th e toast of "The King" and the singing of the National Anthem brought a happy evening to a close. Mrs C. Griffin recently spent a phort holiday at New Plymouth. Mr H. Bowen, of Feilding, who has been the guest of Mrs R. H. Wickham, is now staying with her !'i;-t.er-in-law, Mrs A. Bowen, of iKota.

Mrs Wills, of Wellington, has been on a visit to her brother and sister-in-law, , l ,lr and Mrs W. J. Bray. Mrs Wills left early in last week for Fitzroy, New Plymouth, where she intends spending a few. weeks' holiday with her Hjother. Mrs A. J. Allen, of Kapoukanui, was the guest of Mrs W. H. Wallace last week. Mrs Allen, who was a resident of Huiroa until recently, enjoyed meeting old friends again.

Miss Allen (Stratford) spent last week-end with the Misses Wallace. Mrs J. L. 0. liowe, who has been spending a holiday with Mrs and Miss Bray, has returned to her home at Stratford. Mrs W. H. Bunnings's sister from Wanganui motored through to pay her a visit last week-end. Friends will be glad to learn that Mr Bunting's sister, who has been seriously ill in hospital at Wanganui, is improving.

Mr J. J. G. Martin, of Christchurch, is spending the term holildays with his parents, Mr and Mrs <W. B. Martin.

Mrs Iremonger has returned from an enjoyable holiday spent at Hamilton. WHANGAMOMONA. The Church of England ladies held a street stall on Tuesday, May 15, pnd with needlework, produce, cakes, etc., together with afternoon tea in charge of Mesdames Forman and Dagg, they had a very successful day, something in the vicinity 'of £6 being realised. Mesdames 'Dean, Carver and Waters were the 'stallholders. The nearest guesses to the correct weight of the cake made by Mrs Forman were those of Mrs • Carver and Miss Bennette. ' Miss E. Ostler and Mr C. Parker 'were quietly by Rev. W. Alexander at ,the residence of tie 'bride's parents at Kohuratahi on Monday. The happy couple later left by train for their honeymoon.
