TIN HARE RACING
INTRODUCTION IN SOUTH. DEAD RABBIT ON MOTOR 'CAR. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH Feb. 4. Is the much-discussed sport of "tin" hare racing about to lie introduced in Christchurch? This is the J question a few people who were at \ T ew Brighton racecourse last, evening asked themselves when they saw a motor car with a dead rabbit attached to it chased round the course by a fleet of whippets. It is known to a number of people that a complete electric "tin" hare outfit has been ordered for the city, and as the order wa s placed some time ago it is surmised that the installation should arrive soon. Members of a small S atnering 0f men connected with the sport of whippet racing in Christchurch, who wer e in charge of operations at New Brighton seemed to lie reticent on the point. There were two explanations. on e was that this was a new way of training the little dogs, a.nd the other that it was a try-out under working -ondiitons of the way whippets would take to the new sport.
