LONDON, Ecbruary 4lb is feared tlie worst has happened to Mr and Mrs Clover, who left 'England in 1*3213 for the purpose of scientific exploration through the Central African desert. News has reached the Daily Express in a round about way that an African merchant, living at Manchester, received a letter from an official at Maidujari in Northern Nigeria stating, "A runner has .iust ooniei in with th© bad news that Mr and Mrs Clover have beeii killed in French territory." Mr Glover's friend*; in London recently became most anxious because of tlie sudden stoppage of regular communications from him. The last letter came from Vaya, in French territory, West Africa, 500 miles northeast of Lake Chad, written by Mi's Glover on September] 28, and received by her sister at Croydon about Christmas. It stated, "We lhave travelled cirer a waterless deseirt, often for 19 to 20 hours in the saddle. JL am now 700 miles further than any white woman has ever been."
