RAWER A MEETING. The Hawera Amateur Athletic Club’s carnival was held last night in the presence or .a large attendance. The star performers of the evening were the Australian amateur champion cyclists, J- Standcn a'nd D. Gray,' who put up some of thtei fastest times ever recorded on ijic Haword track. Standee won the halfmile and Gray the mile, while in the two miles event, which Standee also won, Gray had the misfortune to fall. G. J Scents, Victoria University, New Zealand high jumper, hjrd little difficulty in winning that event with a leap of oft 9 3-Bin. He also endeavoured to break his own Njenv Zealand record of 6ft Oj-in, a» m/rde by a New Zealander, but was raJther unlucky. Stan Lay was in good form and sent the javelin 197 ft Sin, which though considerably short of his own record of 204 ft llin, was a, line attempt. Results of the various events were; 100 Yards,—Final; Gimblett 1, Solomon, and T Lay (dead heat) 2; time, lOsec. Six started. Gimblett Girly taking the lead and getting in by a yard.
