FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED
MAN’S BODY IN HARBOUR. STOCK BUYER’S DEATH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The body of a man believed to be Charles James Mahan, of Nile Street, Timaru, was found in, Lyttelton Harbour off Gladstone pier early thisi morning. It v(is badly battered and foul play is suspected. Mahan was a stock buyer by occupation. Mahlan’s body Was, fiully dressed! and in the pockets were a molorl driver'’a license and an insurance policy but only threepenoei m cash.; There! were deep wounds on the nose, chin) and back df the head. He was seen alive last night at eight o’clock, by some boys, being then near the Gladstone Pier, and said . he was catching a train back to Christchurch.
