EXPERIMENTS IN DOMINION. GRANT FROM EMPIRE MARKETING BOARD. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, This Day. Arising out of a request mgde by the Scientific Research Council, the Empire Marketing Board hag offered to grant the sum of £2500 towards the cost of establishing plant breeding and seeds research work in New Zealand. In addition the Board is prepared to contribute £2500 annually for a period of live years towards the cost of maintenance and running costs of these researches. This announcement was made by the Prime Minister who added that the experiments will probably be carried out at the Massey Agricultural College, and will embrace the breeding, selection and treatment against disease of grasses and other crops of the Dominion. Negotiations, said Mr Coats, are in progress with the Agricultural Department and the Agricultural College Councils with a view to arranging the details necessary forcarrying out the work.
